Keeping it fun off the ice has Sarnia Sting rolling with 13 straight wins
Putting on equipment in the Sarnia Sting’s locker-room can be a hazardous business. Any piece of padding could be booby trapped, ready to leave you soaked.
“I don’t want to give away some of the boys, but we’ve got a couple of good pranksters,” said Sting centre Drake Rymsha on Tuesday. “Whether it’s putting a water cup underneath someone’s helmet or putting a water cup in someone’s shin pads so that when they grab their stuff the water falls on them, it’s all for good fun.
“It’s a long and gruelling season so to be able to have good personalities on the team and be able to mess around with each other it makes it a lot easier.”
Keeping it light off the ice has been one of the keys to Sarnia’s success as the Sting (14-1-0) have reeled off 13 straight wins to rocket to the top of the Ontario Hockey League standings and to sit atop the Canadian Hockey League’s weekly power rankings.
