MEDICINE HAT, AB — Dawson Murschell is taking the next step towards his dream of being a top professional dart player.

The 21-year-old, who joined the professional ranks this past winter, is moving to England in January to play darts professionally full time.

“I made this decision because everything is coming into order now,” said Murschell. “I’ve got the big stage experience out of the way, I’ve signed a big contract with Winmau Darts that really helps out, and I have a perfect manager whose helping with everything to get me over there and make sure the visa is in order.”

Murschell says he is constantly improving with all of the tournaments he is competing in.

“A year-and-a-half ago, I definitely wasn’t the same player I am now,” he said. “I’m always getting better, always tinkering with things, always working on things to make sure I’m as good as I possibly can.

“Darts is one of those things, the more tournament experience you get, the better you get. That plays a factor with how often I’m travelling over there and such.

Murschell is gearing up for several big tournaments, with one coming up next week. He received an exemption into the Under-23 World Darts Championship after being ranked inside the Top 10 internationally. The first darts will be thrown on Monday, with finals scheduled November 26th.

“Awesome Dawson,” as he is nicknamed, is coming off a successful year as a pro. He competed in both the World Series of Darts Festival and the U.S. Masters this summer. He’s excited to continue his career in England.

“It’s living the dream, getting to go over there and play darts full-time,” he said. “Everybody wants to do what they want to do for a job, so it’s quite the opportunity for sure.”
