Wind warning issued for southeastern Alberta
MEDICINE HAT, ALTA-Strong winds will be blowing throughout southeastern Alberta today.
According to a notice issued by Environment Canada, an intense low pressure system formed near Grande Prairie early this morning, and began tracking southeast across Alberta. It’s expected to lie in southeastern Saskatchewan by 6 p.m. this evening.
In the systems wake, 70 km per hour winds gusting up to 100 km per hour will be developing, appearing in north central Alberta late this morning and exiting Alberta in the Cypress Hills area late in the evening. Strong westerly winds are also developing in southwest Alberta.
“Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur,” reads the warning.
