Incumbents re-elected in County of Newell

BROOKS, AB — All three incumbents seeking re-election for the County of Newell were re-elected Monday night.

Wayne Hammergren was re-elected in Division 4, defeating challenger Inge Hoekstra by a significant margin. Hammergren will continue to represent the area of Scandia/Rainier/Bow City.

In Division 7, which covers Rosemary, Ellen Unruh was re-elected, defeating Edward Penner.

Finally, in Division 8, which covers Duchess, Brian de Jong narrowly defeated Terry Neigum for the councillor position. A total of 13 votes separated the two candidates.

The remaining seven wards were acclaimed.
