MEDICINE HAT, AB — It’ll take some time before we know the true identity of the Medicine Hat Tigers.

After four games, the reigning Central Division champions are at an even .500 record — splitting their opening home-and-home series against Lethbridge before decisions went either way last weekend in Saskatchewan.

Although their identity is still uncertain, their rookie uprising is undeniable.

Nine rookies are listed on the team’s roster. That’s not including forward Baxter Anderson, who laced with the Tabbies in six games last year, and goaltender Duncan McGovern who made seven appearances between the pipes.

That makes a lot of 16 and 17 year olds adjusting to a life devoted to playing hockey away from home.

CHAT Sports spoke with rookies Jaxon Steele, Cole Clayton, and Henry Rybinski to hear how the youngsters are adjusting to their new lifestyle, and how forming friendships away from the rink can spur on positive results on the ice.
