MEDICINE HAT, AB — The city is moving towards the final stage of construction on South Railway Street near downtown next week.

Starting on Monday, the work on the street will shift to the intersection at South Railway Street and Fifth Street Southeast.

Due to the road closure, access to downtown from the south requires drivers to use Hill Road Southeast to Fifth Avenue Southeast, turn onto Dundee Street, and enter downtown on Sixth Avenue Southeast.

Fifth Street Southeast will be closed at South Railway Street, and will allow U-turns. The detour will be in effect from September 24th until the work is completed by the third week of October.

In addition, several street transitions will take place on Sunday. Two-way traffic will be open on South Railway Street from Second Street Southeast to the Post Thrift Store. Third Street Southeast will also return to one-way traffic, and Fourth Street will be re-opened as a two-way street.
