Sep 20, 2017 | 3:34 PM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Police Point Park has officially reopened to the public following a brief closure.

The city made the decision to close the park after an aggressive moose was spotted within its borders. Local Fish and Wildlife officers were made aware of the animal, and have been monitoring the situation. It is currently rutting season for moose, a time of year when they can be the most aggressive and dangerous to the public.

According to the city, the moose is in the area, but is no longer aggressive. Residents should be aware of their surroundings at all times while using the parks or trails in the city.

If you spot any dangerous situations with wildlife please contact Medicine Hat Bylaw at 403-529-8481 or Fish and Wildlife at 403-529-3680 immediately.
