MEDICINE HAT, AB — Several immediate changes are coming to city bus routes next week.

In a news release, the city indicated it will be adding time to routes which were scheduled to take 30 minutes to travel from one end to another. The routes will no be 35 minutes in length, with round trips taking 70 minutes. The release says adding time to some sections of the routes, including the Maple Avenue overpass, Dunmore Road and College Hill, will help reduce bottlenecks in the route, and ensure transfers can be made as scheduled.

The changes will take place beginning on Monday. The city plans to distribute new schedules on buses Thursday and Friday. The new schedules will also be available online at www.mhtransit.ca and at the Transit Information Desk in the Esplanade.

City council voted 6-3 during Monday’s meeting to return transit to the previous system. A timeline for the switch over has not been made public.
