Four wards up for election in Cypress County

DUNMORE, AB — Four wards in Cypress County will be going to the polls next month.

After nomination deadline passed Monday afternoon, it was revealed Wards 1,4, 7 and 8 will see challengers to the incumbent candidates on October 16.

In Ward 1, which covers Hilda and Schuler, there is a three-way race for the councillor seat. Incumbent Arthur Squire is being challenged by Michelle McKenzie and Shirley Roy for the seat.

In Ward 4, which covers Longfellow, Councillor Garry Lentz is being challenged by Robin Kurpjuweit for the council seat.

In Ward 7, which covers Desert Blume and northern Seven Persons, Councillor Richard Oster is being challenged by Garry Procter for the council seat.

Finally, Ward 8, which covers highway 523 North and Redcliff, shane Hok is challenging Councillor LeRay Pahl to represent the area.

The remaining five wards are acclaimed.

Ward 2 (Irvine/Walsh) – Darcy Geigle

Ward 3 (Elkwater) – Ernest Mudie

Ward 4 (Longfellow) – Garry Lentz (incumbent), Robin Kurpjuweit.

Ward 5 (Dunmore/Veinerville) – Dan Hamilton

Ward 6 (Seven Persons/Black & White Trail) – Dustin Vossler

Ward 7 ( Seven Persons North/Desert Blume) – Richard Oster (incumbent), Garry Proctor)

Ward 8 (Redcliff/highway 523 North) – LeRay Pahl (incumbent), Shane Hok.

Ward 9 (Jenner/Suffield) – Alf Belyea (acclaimed)
