Fort McMurray wildfire officially extinguished

FORT MCMURRAY, AB β The wildfire that forced 80,000 people in northern Alberta to flee last May has finally been extinguished.
The Fort McMurray wildfire, dubbed βThe Beast,β was officially declared out on August 2. The fire started on May 1, 2016, and destroyed more than 2,400 buildings in the city, and caused an estimated $3.8 billion in damage.
Wildfire crews have been using advanced heat detectors aboard helicopters, and now say there are no remaining hot spots.
