MEDICINE HAT, AB — A happy ending to a story that scares every pet owner.

On Tuesday, Brad Kuich, who calls Kelowna home, stopped at the Medicine Hat Mall to run a quick errand. When he returned to the parking lot 15 minutes later, his truck was gone.

Inside the truck was Belle, his nine-month old Border collie.

Kuich went to police and reached out to CHAT Television in an attempt to find his dog.

Now, three days later, Belle has been found safe and sound in the city, along with Kuich’s truck.

According to Kuich, he received a call from the Medicine Hat Police Service Friday morning to alert him his truck was found in the city, and Belle was found inside of it. She has received food and water from police.

The truck was found in the parking lot of the Southridge YMCA.

When he received the call from police, Kuich, who was in Oyen at the time, said it was an emotional moment.

“The big soft side came out, I had tears in my eyes and I couldn’t talk on the phone,” he told CHAT News Today. “The police told me she was safe and sound, which really relieved me a lot, and took a big weight off of my shoulders.”

Kuich says Belle was excited to see him when he arrived. He was thankful to Medicine Hat Police and residents of the city for their tips to help him reunite with his dog.

The two are on their way back home to Kelowna.
