Three children killed following highway collision near Hanna

HANNA, AB — Three children have died following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 36 and Highway 570 near Hanna Wednesday night.

According to an RCMP news release, Hanna RCMP responded to the collision at 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday. Early investigation from the RCMP says a SUV travelling west on Highway 570 collided with a semi truck going south on Highway 36.

A 16-year-old girl, an 11-year-old boy and an infant girl were declared deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, while the driver and the adult passenger of the SUV were taken to hospital in Calgary. One of the injured was transported by STARS air ambulance, while the other was transported by ground ambulance. Information about their injuries was not immediately known.
