City mailing out non-residential property assessment information packages

Jul 25, 2017 | 11:32 AM

MEDICINE HAT, AB — Non-residential property owners will be getting mail from the city’s tax assessment department.

The department has mailed Request for Information packages to property owners in the improved non-residential property class. This is the first step for the city to develop next year’s assessment roll, and annual data collection ensures the roll reflects current market information.

The City of Medicine Hat Tax Assessment department has mailed out Request for Information (RFI) packages to property owners of improved non-residential property class.

The city establishes assessment values to allow for equitable distribution of taxes, and says higher response rates will increase the statistical confidence level in the resulting assessment values.

The city also says it’s important for property owners to retain their ability to participate in the assessment appeal process. For property owners to be eligible to appeal their 2018 assessment, they must respond completely to a RFI by the August 1, 2017 deadline.

Property owners are encouraged to contact the Assessment department directly if they have questions regarding their property assessment or if they require any assistance in completing their request for information forms. The department can be reached by phone at 403-529-8114 or by email at assessment@medicinehat.ca.
