MEDICINE HAT, AB – A Medicine Hat man is facing multiple child pornography and weapons-related charges following a lengthy investigation by the ALERT Internet Child Exploitation Unit.

Police executed a search warrant on July 13 following a tip from the United States National Center for Missing and Exploited Children about someone in Medicine Hat uploading child pornography back in April.

During the search warrant, the ICE Unit arrested 32-year-old Tyler Falkeisen and charged him with six counts including possessing and accessing child pornography, unauthorized possession of a firearm, and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Close to 3,000 images of child pornography was found on a number of electronic devices seized, while police also found a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun.

Police found that Falkeisen was not in contact with any children and was not in a position of authority with any minors.

Falkeisen appeared in court on July 14 and was released on his own recognizance with numerous conditions including no possession of firearms, no possession of cameras, laptops or recording equipment, no internet access at home, no social media, and no contact with anyone under the age of 18.

Insp. Brent Secondiak with the Medicine Hat Police Service speaks about the charges below.
