MEDICINE HAT, AB — He may not have broken his track record, but Kurt Bensmiller felt the need for speed on the first night of the World Professional Chuckwagon Association races in Medicine Hat.

The Dewberry, Alberta native was the big winner at the Medicine Hat Exhibition & Stampede grounds finishing with a time of 1:01.45 Thursday night.

Bensmiller was part of the 12th and final heat, topping Layne MacGillivray and Obrey Motowylo by over a full second to win.
