MEDICINE HAT, AB — Robert Dumanowski announcing Wednesday afternoon at city hall that he is seeking another term on city council.

The long-serving councillor said he hopes to sit in council chambers for a sixth term as councillor. He was first elected in 2001.

As councillor, Dumanowski currently serves on the Medicine Hat Police Commission, the Administrative & Legislative Review Committee, the Corporate Services Committee and the Development and Infrastructure Committee.

The 46 year-old school principal said his priorities over the next four years would be to stay focused on keeping spending down while completing necessary infrastructure work throughout the city.

Dumanowski said the decision to run came after a lot of reflection.

“Although we can’t go back in time, I’m proud of my accomplishments in this term with this council, I’m proud of my contribution to the community,” he said. “I will fight hard to be a spokesperson for this community.”

Dumanowski joins fellow councillors Les Pearson, Brian Varga, and Jim Turner in seeking re-election for council. Mayor Ted Clugston announced in January he intends to seek re-election as Mayor on October 16.

Other candidates who have filed intentions to run are Jim Black, Charles Mittelholtz Turner, Myles Mulholland and former councillor Phil Turnbull.
