BROOKS, AB — A trial for a Brooks man accused of manslaughter in the beating death of his girlfriend was expected to begin on Monday.

Jessie Dyck was charged after 19-year-old Tanya Campbell-Losier was found badly beaten in February of last year. She was taken to hospital and later died.

A judge previously released him into his mother’s custody and with several conditions.

He’s not allowed in Brooks unless he’s there for a scheduled court appearance.

Dyck re-elected to have his trial heard by a judge and jury, which means it’ll be moved to Medicine Hat.

It’s unclear when his next court date will be.
