TABER & FOREMOST, AB – A big night for the Medicine Hat High Mohawks and Crescent Heights High Vikings on Tuesday, as they looked to gain some ground in the Southern Alberta High School League.

The Mohawks (5-2) were on the road Tuesday as they faced off against W.R. Meyers (3-3) in Taber.

A rough start for Medicine Hat as they fell behind by a 5-2 count after the first inning alone.

W.R. Meyers added another run in the third inning to take a commanding 6-2 lead, but the Mohawks battled back in the fifth with a trio of runs.

Down by a pair entering their final at bats, Medicine Hat closed the gap to one but couldn’t find the equalizer as they fell by a 7-6 final.

Brady Silver went 2-4 at the dish with a pair of RBI’s for W.R. Meyers, while Medicine Hat’s Travis Small was 2-4 with one RBI.

It’s a quick turnaround for the Mohawks, as they face the McCoy Colts in an exhibition game on Wednesday night.

As for the Vikings (3-5), they were on the road in Foremost to duel with the Foremost High Falcons (1-5).

Starting strong on the road, Crescent Heights got out to a 3-0 lead through the first two innings.

Things unravelled quickly in the third however, as the Falcons drove in five runs to jump in the lead 5-3.

Crescent Heights vaulted themselves back to a 6-5 lead and only needed three outs to secure the win, but the Falcons put on their rally caps and scored a pair to secure the 7-6 win.

Despite the loss, the Vikings’ Dylan Fauth went 3-4 at the plate with an RBI and also threw four innings from the mound.

The road trip continues on Thursday for the Vikings as they head across the border to take on the Maple Creek Red Sox.
