Man’s stolen phone contained precious photos of dying wife

MEDICINE HAT, AB — This past Wednesday, a local business owner was the victim of cell phone theft.

Dale Brigham of Big Al’s Music and Games was working behind the counter when a customer walked in, picked up Brigham’s phone when he wasn’t looking, and left the store with it.

When Brigham saw that his phone was missing, he checked the security cameras and saw that the customer had taken it. Brigham was devastated, because what the thief had taken from him was worth far more than just a cell phone.

“My wife is dying of early onset Alzheimer’s,” said Brigham through tears. “She’s in the final stages. And every time there was a good day I would always take a picture of most often her and me together. And those pictures are gone. They were on the phone.”

Brigham had forgotten to back up the pictures of him and Heather, his wife of 37 years, on his iPhone. Now he fears that he will never see these photos again. It is for this reason that he is offering a reward to anyone who brings his phone back to him.

“If somebody brings the phone back in I’ll give them a hundred bucks,” he said. “You know, no questions asked. I don’t even care if it’s the person that took it. You’d still get a hundred bucks. You know, maybe he had a bad day, needed the money.”

After the incident, Brigham posted the security footage of the theft taking place to Facebook. In response, the support from the community has poured in.

“Just in the community, overwhelming support,” he said. “I just can’t believe how much it’s blown up, and people looking for it, looking for him. You know, it kind of gave me good faith in this community. I always knew it was good, but it’s the best.”

Anyone who comes accross the phone or has any information regarding its location is encouraged to speak to Dale Brigham at Big Al’s Music and Games.
