MEDICINE HAT, AB — Students from Brooks, Lloydminster and Medicine Hat met today to learn about how they can make a difference in the community.

It was part of the leadership conference being held at Crescent Heights High School.

Key club members, the youngest version of the Kiwanis family, spoke with students about how they can make an impact, like making blankets for the pregnancy centre and maternity ward.

Key club advisor, Heather McCaig, said leadership courses can teach kids a lot and help build a strong foundation for their future.

“We do encourage all parents to consider encouraging their kids to take those courses because it’s good for resumes, scholarships and we do things that will give them an empowerment for their future and that’s really what we hope to inspire in all the kids,” she said.

Students also worked on making dog toys to donate to animal shelters around the community and book marks for local libraries.
