MEDICINE HAT, AB — The modernization renovations continue at Monsignor McCoy High School.

Members with the Catholic Board were shown some of the highlights for the first time on Tuesday.

Some of those highlights included seeing the new theatre space, which has a new stage and production room.

There are new breakout spaces spread out around the school, something Principal Paul Bauche said is needed, because all students learn differently.

“To sit in a classroom with 30 others and to learn for an hour, hour and a half at a time, can work for some but it doesn’t work for all,” he said. “We all learn differently and at times we need to be in groups of three or four, maybe we’re by ourselves. Sometimes we need a large group with a teacher.”

Construction crews will be moving to the front of the building next and working on opening up the front foyer.

The modernization is expected to be finished by the fall.
