Five charged after two separate drug investigations

 LETHBRIDGE — Five people from Lethbridge, Coaldale and Fort MacLeod have been arrested and charged after more than $55,000 in drugs and 11 firearms were seized from three homes near .

The Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team (ALERT) collaborated with  Lethbridge Police Service, Coaldale RCMP and Fort MacLeod RCMP on the two unrelated investigations into alleged drug dealing in the community.

On March 15, ALERT seized $30,000 worth of drugs and seven firearms after searching homes in North Lethbridge and Coaldale. Police seized Six rifles, a handgun, 205 grams of cocaine, 59 grams of methamphetamine, 31 grams of marijuana and 14 illicit prescription pills.

Michael Monahan, 36, and Jamie Delafosse, 41, both from Lethbridge, and 26-year-old Jordan Wensmann of Coaldale were arrested in connection with the investigation.

Monahan is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of flight from police. Wensmann is charged with two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of driving while suspended. Delafosse faces one charge of possession for the purpose of trafficking.

ALERT searched a home in Fort MacLeod on March 17, seizing more than $25,000 worth of drugs and four firearms, including three rifles and a shotgun. Police seized 222 grams of cocaine, three grams of heroin, 22 grams of methamphetamine and nine grams of marijuana.

Dean Jordan, 47 and Elaine Reid, 39, both of Fort MacLeod, were arrested in connection with the investigation. Both are charged with three counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, three counts of careless storage of a firearm, four counts of knowingly possess an unauthorized firearm and possession of property obtained by crime.
