Flu deaths in province increase to four

CALGARY — Another two flu deaths have been reported in the province by Alberta Health Services.

The organization released its weekly report regarding the flu season on Thursday, bringing the total number of people dead from laboratory-confirmed influenza to four this season.

The new deaths were reported in the Calgary Zone, which previously recorded the first death of the season, and the Central zone. Only one death has been reported this season in the South Zone, which includes Medicine Hat and Lethbridge.

According to the report, 259 Albertans have been admitted to the hospital with flu, the majority from the Calgary zone. The South zone has seen 26 people taken to hospital with the disease.
