Medicine Hat Brewing Co. celebrates first birthday

MEDICINE HAT, AB. – Medicine Hat Brewing Company is celebrating their first birthday this weekend. The party kicked off with a beer gardens, cake cutting and new swag being released in their taproom (1366 Brier Park Dr. NW Medicine Hat, AB.).

General Manager of Medicine Hat Brewing Company, Kaiden Vancuren said he has been thrilled with the response from beer lovers in the area.

“”One year went by really quick,” he explained. “It’s been a good year with lot’s of local support.”

The idea of opening a brewery for Vancuren came from his families love of craft beer.

“We just always liked craft beer and we like the whole local aspect of it,” he explained. “Alberta has the best barley in the world, we figured why not use all local ingredients to make good beer.”

Over the course of the year, Vancuren said they have had to make some adjustments.

“We’ve done a lot of changes in our taproom,” he explained. “How we orchestrate stuff, especially our sales outside of Medicine Hat, a lot of challenges but we’ve overcome a lot of stuff.”

The number of sales made over the course of the year surprised Vancuren.

“I thought we would be a lot less busy in our first year,” he said. “The local support has been insane, every bar in town likes us and they’ve been good to us.”

Vancuren explained they will have their kitchen up and running next week, to serve up menu items to accompany their flights of beer. 

On Sunday, December 10th from 11:00 A.M. 6:00 P.M. their taproom will be offering brunch to round out their birthday weekend.
