Canada reaches CONCACAf U17 quarterfinals, now one win from FIFA U17 World Cup
BRADENTON, Fla. — Canada defeated Curacao 4-0 Thursday to reach the quarterfinals of the CONCACAF Men’s Under-17 Championship and move within one win of qualifying for the FIFA U-17 World Cup in Brazil later this year.
Kamron Habibullah, captain Simon Colyn and Jayden Nelson scored for the Canadians. Habibullah’s goal came from the penalty spot. Canada also benefited from an own goal from Elijah Nava.
Canada reached the knockout portion of the tournament by finishing second to the U.S. in Group F with a 2-1-0 record. The Canadians defeated Guatemala 4-2 and Barbados 4-0 after losing 3-2 to the Americans.
Curacao (0-1-2) finished third in Group H.
