MEDICINE HAT, AB — The play of Mads Søgaard has been recognized once again by the Western Hockey League.

The Medicine Hat Tigers goaltender was named the WHL Eli Wilson Goaltender of the Week for the week ending February 10. It is his second time receiving the honour this season, with the first award coming in December.

The league cited Søgaard’s three appearances during the Tigers roadtrip this week, where he was the winning goaltender against the Kootenay ICE, the Everett Silvertips and the Portland Winterhawks. He earned his third career shutout against the Silvertips, who lead the WHL’s Western Conference, stopping 41 shots during the game.

In all three games, Søgaard stopped 96 of 100 shots faced, earning a .960 save percentage and a 1.30 goals-against average.

So far this season, Søgaard has a 15-4-3 record, a 2.19 GAA and a 0.935 save percentage.

The Tigers return to action on Wednesday, when they host the Saskatoon Blades at the Canalta Centre at 7 p.m.
