Mavericks series finale rained out in Fort McMurray

Jun 22, 2018 | 9:10 PM

FORT MCMURRAY, AB – The Medicine Hat Mavericks won’t have a chance to complete a four-game sweep against the Fort McMurray Giants.

Friday night’s series finale against the Giants was cancelled due to a storm system moving through the Fort McMurray area, bringing the Mavericks road trip to an abrupt end.

After dropping their opening game against the Edmonton Prospects on Monday night 8-5, they rattled off three straight victories against the Giants.

Moving to a 13-3 record after their road swing, Medicine Hat sits two and a half games up on the Okotoks Dawgs for top spot in the Western Division.

There is no word yet on when the Mavericks will make up their game against Fort McMurray, as they now return to Athletic Park to kick off a home and home series versus the Lethbridge Bulls.

Medicine Hat opens that series on Sunday afternoon with first pitch planned for 2:05 pm.
