Lanny McDonald, Rob Niedermayer, coming to city for Hometown Hockey
MEDICINE HAT, AB — A pair of Stanley Cup champions with ties to Medicine Hat will be in town this weekend for Rogers Hometown Hockey.
Lanny McDonald and Rob Niedermayer will return to the Gas City for the event, and will be signing autographs at several points through the weekend, and appear on the Hometown Hockey Hot Stove.
McDonald, who had his number eight retired by the Medicine Hat Tigers, is a member of the Hockey Hall of Fame and enjoyed a 16 year career with the Toronto Maple Leafs, Colorado Rockies and Calgary Flames. McDonald won the Stanley Cup with the Flames in 1989.
Niedermayer played three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers, scoring 205 points during his time there. Niedermayer spent time with the Florida Panthers, Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks, New Jersey Devils and Buffalo Sabres, winning the Stanley Cup in 2007 with the Ducks.
