One more dead from flu in Calgary

EDMONTON — One more person has died from influenza in Alberta, according to Alberta Health Services.

In the weekly AHS report on Thursday, one more person from Calgary has been reported dead from lab-confirmed influenza, bringing the total dead this season to 18.

Five people have died in the South Zone, -which includes Medicine Hat and Lethbridge- this season, while four people have died in the Central Zone, two in the North Zone and one in Edmonton. There were no reported deaths in the four remaining zones this week.

So far this season, more than 2,500 lab-confirmed cases of flu have been reported in the province, hospitalizing 798 people. The South Zone has reported 219 cases, which has sent 80 people to hospital.
