The family, friends and colleagues of Irma Riley wish to commemorate her life of love, honesty, and a commitment to both the local and world communities. Irma passed away on Saturday evening while doing the things she loved to do with one of her daughters, both of whom she loved so much. Irma had spent a life of service to her family, her students, and the community. She taught students in Vincent Massey School, Riverside School, Medicine Hat High School, and Medicine Hat College. In addition to being a teacher librarian, she taught art, math, English, French, German, and a broad range of high school options, winning provincial awards in art, English, and German. She was selected by the Department of Education to manage and coordinate the Student Exchange Program with the schools in Bavaria, Germany, for students from across Alberta. At the same time, she had proudly served with community groups promoting women in the professions and business, and the German Canadian Club. She will be missed by all. The Memorial Service will be held at SAAMIS MEMORIAL FUNERAL CHAPEL, #1 Dunmore Road SE, on Friday, June 30th, 2017 at 1:30 p.m. with Life Celebrant Lynett Getz officiating. Memorial gifts in Irma’s memory may be made to the Medicine Hat Women’s Shelter, PO Box 2500 Lcd 1, Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8G8. Condolences may be sent through www.saamis.com or to [email protected] subject heading Irma Riley.
