Yvonne Keetley
1920 ~ 2018
Just shy of her 98th year, Yvonne Hilda Keetley passed away on Sunday, January 14, 2018. She was born in Vancouver on February 20, 1920, to Fred and Hilda Lutz. Yvonne moved to Medicine Hat in 1928, where she attended Elm Street School and received her High School Diploma from Alexandra School… an unusual feat at the time. She married Frederick Keetley in 1948 and was an active member of Fifth Avenue Memorial United Church for many years. Yvonne was involved in the Horticultural Society and the Medicine Hat Food Bank. She was the consummate baker, cook, seamstress, babysitter of grandchildren, reader, advocate for those in need, gardener and lover of dogs. Yvonne is survived by her two children; Joan Riegel and Wayne (Debbie) Keetley, as well as two grandsons, Shayne (Mariel) of Vancouver and Garet of Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick in 1990, and her brother, Allan Lutz in 2006. We will hold our memories of her dearly. In Yvonne’s honour, a private graveside service will be held at Hillside Cemetery. Flowers are gratefully declined. Should anyone wish to commemorate her life, please make a donation to the SPCA, 55 Southwest Drive S.E. Medicine Hat, Alberta, T1A 8E8.
