Wayne passed away at the hospital in Wildomar, California, on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at the age of 83 years. Along with Marlene, his loving wife of over 55 years, Wayne’s memory will be cherished by his daughter, Nicole (Andy) Stroh; granddaughters, Kyla (Dylan) and Madison Stroh; brother, Dennis (Judi) Moreton; several nieces and nephews as well as other extended family including Donna (Rick) Kane, Carol (Paul) Buttik and Glen (Carol) Grant. He was predeceased by his parents, Julie Steele and Leonard Moreton. Wayne Grant Moreton was born in Essex County, Windsor, Ontario, on November 3, 1941. Wayne lived a vibrant and full life, sharing his warmth, humor, and stories with anyone who would listen. He married the love of his life, Marlene (née Lentz), on September 27, 1969, in Medicine Hat and together they shared over five decades of cherished memories. A dedicated conductor with CP Rail, Wayne took great pride in his work, especially during his time aboard VIA passenger trains. He was passionate about cars, particularly hot rods. Known as a true “car guy”, Wayne appreciated the craftsmanship and history of the vehicles he admired. His curiosity and keen interest in current events made him a well-informed conversationalist who could engage anyone in discussion. Whether talking about history, news, curling, or golf, Wayne’s love for connecting with people and sharing his thoughts was evident to all who met him. Wayne cherished his time traveling with Marlene, especially their annual trips to Hemet, CA, their snow skiing adventures in Whitefish, Montana and countless camping trips with family. These experiences brought him much joy while creating many lasting memories. Wayne’s legacy as a kind and social individual will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by his loved ones and the many whose lives he touched along the way.
