Timothy Raymond Poliquin
1952-2022
It is with heavy heart and great sadness that the family of Tim Poliquin announce his passing. Tim was born in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, on October 9, 1952, and passed away on July 15, 2022, at the age of 69.
Tim was an avid sports fan, but his true love was for his family, Dona and his fur babies. Tim’s nieces and nephews were the pride and joy of his life. He was always asking about them and was never afraid to express how proud he was of each and every one of them. He loved them dearly.
Tim had moved to Suffield from Medicine Hat in 2013 where he fell in love with his neighbour, Dona Duckmanton. Tim and Dona had a collaborative and caring relationship that was based on mutual support and a deep love for each other. Tim always told us how lucky he was to have Dona in his life. Dona was the apple of Tim’s eye. There was nothing Tim liked better than an interesting conversation with a good (or new) friend. Tim could have an engaging conversation with anyone.
Tim is predeceased by his parents Ray and Eileen; and brother, Claude.
He will be sadly missed by his brothers, Jim and Pat Poliquin; his sisters, Dianne (Lionel) Peel and Marlene (Bryan) Betteridge; loving relatives and treasured friends.
To honour Tim’s wishes there will be no funeral service.
Wherever a beautiful soul has been there is a trail of beautiful memories, and I am sure that Tim would hope that when you think of him, he brings a smile to your face.
In closing, anyone who knew Tim, knew that he was a kind, compassionate man. Tim was never into material things and would give the shirt off his back and expect nothing in return. To Tim life was always about the Dash.
The Dash Poem (By Linda Ellis)
I read of a man who stood to speak
At the funeral of a friend
He referred to the dates on the tombstone
From the beginning….to the end
He noted that first came the date of birth
And spoke the following date with tears,
But he said what mattered most of all
Was the dash between those years
For the dash represents all the time
That they spent alive on earth.
And now only those who loved them
Know what that little line is worth
For it matters not how much we own,
The cars…the house….the cash
What matters is how we live and love
And how we spend our dash
So think about this long and hard
Are there things you’d like to change
For you never know how much time is left
That can still be arranged.
If we could just slow down enough
To consider what’s true and real
And always try to understand
The way other people feel.
And be less quick to anger
And show appreciation more
And love the people in our lives
Like we never loved before.
If we treat each other with respect
And more often wear a smile,
Remembering this special dash
Might only last a little while
So when your eulogy is being read
With your life’s actions to rehash
Would you be proud of the things they say
About how you spent YOUR DASH
