She leaves to cherish her memory her son, Lawrence (June) Streifel; two grandchildren, Laurianne Streifel and Christopher (Leeanne) Streifel; two great grandchildren, Tayden and Madilee. One sister, Elizabeth Schile of Medicine Hat; two brothers-in-law, Charles (Bette) Streifel of Victoria and Phillip (Catharine) Streifel of Calgary; one sister-in-law Dorothy LeBlanc of Medicine Hat as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Lambert on December 16, 1976; her parents Ludwig Arnolt in 1972 and Theresa Martha Arnolt in 1968, one brother Frank Arnolt as a child in 1925; two sisters Frances Arnolt as a child in 1925, and Helen Mastel in 2000.
Theresa was born October 2, 1925 in Medicine Hat. Growing up during the Great Depression of the 1930’s was indeed challenging. After the Second World War, she married the love of her life Lambert Streifel who had served overseas, on September 24, 1946. Two years later they became the parents of their only son Lawrence. Theresa was a life long homemaker who took great pride in her masterful baking especially pies and kuchen. She loved gardening, flowers being her passion. She took great pride in her ability to grow African violets. She also loved jewellery and her pet dogs especially her last dog Peter and her “grand doggy” Oreo. Mom enjoyed music, dancing and bingo. She was a lady of strong Catholic faith to her last days and prayed the rosary, of which she had several, daily. A highlight of her travels were three trips to Las Vegas and trips to Victoria and Ontario. Mom was unafraid to voice her political views and had several lengthy conversations with local, provincial and federal politicians. Mom also had a sense of humour and enjoyed a good joke with anyone who visited. But her most treasured moments were spent with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, playing games especially “Old Maid”. In 2003, her health condition limited her mobility to venture out, spending her last years at Meadowlands and Good Samaritans Homes. But her attendance at her two grandchildren’s weddings were a must. Family and friends will gather for prayers in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Thursday, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. or at the church on Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 10:25 a.m. The funeral mass will be celebrated in Holy Family Parish (1451 Strachan Road SE) on Friday, April 7, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Philip Le celebrant. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
