With great sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Stanley Lloyd Biffard at his home on Friday, February 18, 2022 at the age of 88 years. Stan’s memory will be forever cherished by his wife Betty, son Stan Biffard Jr. (Susan), daughters Judy (Wes) Stripling, Jane (Mark) Smith and stepchildren Bill Adams and Brian Adams (Betty Weiss). “Candy Grandpa” will also be dearly missed by his grandchildren: Tyler (Kayley) Stripling, Chelsea (Brad) Volk, Adam Smith, Elina (Dusty) Schubert, Miranda Kleemola and great grandchildren: Lacey, Brendan, Jenna, Emily, Noah, Lexi, Ryder, Kinley and Jack. Stan was predeceased by his parents Henry and Hilda Biffard and his sisters, Marjory Blair and Laurie Sharland.
Stan was born June 13, 1933 in Medicine Hat. He attended Elizabeth Street School, Elm Street School and graduated from Alexander High School in 1951. As a young man he surveyed in Northern Alberta for Canadian Exploration, returning to Medicine Hat to marry his first wife, Agnes Osadczuk. After a short period at Western Lockers, during which time he completed an accounting course by correspondence, he became a partner in Joyline Transport. They later purchased Caskey Oilfield Hauling. After 35 years at Joyline, Stan retired in 1993.
In 1981, Stan married Betty Adams and after retirement they travelled extensively, both in their RV and with The Friendship Force. They especially enjoyed their winters at their home in Casa Grande, Arizona. They also enjoyed antiquing and venturing off the beaten path.
Stan was an avid curler, a Past President and Life Member of the Medicine Hat Curling Club and the Southern Alberta Curling Association. He was a founding member and Life Member of the Medicine Hat Oilmen’s Association and was an Elk member for over 50 years. Stan had a passion for playing cards, especially Poker, at which he excelled.
The family would like to thank Dr. Bratvold and his team along with the home care workers and the paramedics for their compassionate care.
Stan will be greatly missed by his many friends and relatives. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donation may be made to a charity of your choice.
