It is with heavy hearts that the family of Shirley McLeod (nee Erlandson) announces her unexpected but peaceful passing at Medicine Hat Regional Hospital on May 8, 2024, three days after her 93rd birthday. Shirley was born in Cadillac, Saskatchewan and grew up on the farm with four brothers and two sisters where she learned values of hard work and a strong family bond. She loved family gatherings that usually included a good sing-song (often with her at the piano) and a rousing game of penny-ante poker. She showed us every day how to live with kindness, grace and love and we will miss her deeply.
Shirley is survived by her daughters Vicki (Mike) Steiner and Kari (Darcy) Weimer, her grandchildren Mark (Lindsay) Steiner, Leah Steiner, Aaron (Kaleigh) Weimer, Jordan (Danica) Weimer and Madi (Dean) McLeod. She adored her great-grandchildren Lily and Elle Steiner, Hunter Weimer and Calvin Weimer and was looking forward to one more arriving in August. She is also survived by one sister, Jean Satter, of Swift Current as well as many nieces and nephews who loved her dearly. Shirley was predeceased by her husband Bob in 2004, son Brian in 2022 and daughter-in-law Dale in 2015.
The family would like to thank the amazing staff at Meadowlands as well as the outstanding medical team that looked after her in hospital: Dr. Paul Parksand the Emergency staff, Dr. Darren Holland and the ICU staff and Dr. Cathy Horsman, who went above and beyond with her care and concern over the years.
A celebration of Shirley’s life will take place at a later date. Cremation has been entrusted to Pattison Funeral Home and Crematorium. To leave a message of condolence you may visit www.pattisonfuneralhome.com.
