1984 – 2018
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Shane Roche. Shane is survived by his dad John (Jill) Roche, his brother Lee, step-brother Jasper, step-sister Mickey, half-brother Brad (Nina), and numerous loving aunts, uncles, nephew, niece, cousins and his many close friends. Shane is pre-deceased by his wonderful mom , Connie, Nanny & Poppy Roche and his Gramma & Grampa Bennett. Shane was born in Prince George, BC, then moved with his military family to Victoria and Calgary, then settled in Medicine Hat. He graduated with honours from McCoy High School. Shane participated in many different sports but his passion was football and playing for the Colts. Shane attended the Medicine Hat College for two years, then transferred to the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Commerce Degree. After completing his degree, he remained in Edmonton and started work in the accounting field. He especially enjoyed his time with Enbridge as a Field Control Analyst and most recently as an analyst with the CNIB. He was a kind, generous and caring man who enjoyed playing video games, music, travelling, politics and family gatherings, especially at Christmas and reunions. His wit and unique sense of humour will be remembered by all who knew him. His loss will be mourned by many, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. Also, we would like to extend a special thanks to Shane’s co-workers and management at the CNIB for their kindness and caring. The funeral service will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, February 16, 2018 at 1:00 p.m. with Derrill Meyer officiating. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations in Shane’s name can be made to the Edmonton Epilepsy Association, 11215 Groat Rd NW, Edmonton, AB T5M 3K2 or at edmontonepilepsy.org.
