Rusty Mingo
1960 ~ 2023
It is with heavy hearts that the family of Russell ‘Rusty’ David Mingo announce his passing at the Foothills Medical Centre in Calgary on Sunday, June 11, 2023, at the age of 63 years. Rusty was born in Mission, B.C. on January 21, 1960, and was raised in Williams Lake. He was a son born to proud parents, Robert and Rosemary Mingo. Rusty married Beverley on May 23, 1980 in Medicine Hat and were blessed with three children. Although their chapter of marriage came to a close in June of 2021, they remained as a family. He was a hard-working man who spent most of his life working on the oil rigs as a tool push and finishing his career as an oil rig consultant. During that time, he held a few other jobs but working in the patch was in his blood! Besides being a hard worker, Rusty was kind, caring, loving and a very giving individual who would give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. Those who knew Rusty, knew that he was an original, one of a kind and this was a quality that drew people to him – he was well liked by everyone who met him! When he wasn’t tinkering around in his garage or yard, he could be found either fishing, golfing, playing darts, camping or feeling the breeze on his face riding his Harley. Rusty was a proud Canadian and served in the Canadian Armed Forces from 1977-1980 and also played on the CAF men’s soccer team. He had a competitive nature and won many medals in Taekwondo and competed in numerous arm wrestling tournaments. Rusty was always there for his family when they needed him and the great memories made over the years will be deeply missed by his children: daughter, Alexis Mingo and her children, Hunter Elliott-Mingo and Karis Clay; son, Jedidiah (Jay) Mingo and his children, Ethan Buziak and Noah Mingo-Hemstra; and Jeremiah (Ioana) Mingo and his children, Aaliyah Mingo, Remington Mingo and step-sons, Angelco and Logan Luca; brothers, Stan Mingo, Doug (Maizie) Mingo and sisters, Charlene Vankoughnett and Irene Donaghy. He will be missed by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, friends, family and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Rosemary Mingo; a brother, Bob Mingo and sister, Deborah Lynn. Those wishing to honour Rusty’s memory are invited to pay their respects at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Saturday, June 17, 2023 between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 12 noon.(Condolences may be expressed by visiting our website at www.cooksouthland.com) Honoured to serve the family is Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, Crematorium & Reception Facility, Medicine Hat, Alberta.
