In Loving Memory Of
Russell Sutton
October 7, 1955 ~ May 3, 2026
Russell was born on October 7, 1955, in Leader, Saskatchewan and raised in Sceptre, Saskatchewan where he attended school and later graduated in Leader. He carried a deep connection to the community and prairie life throughout his years. Russell passed away peacefully on May 3, 2026, at Sunnyside Nursing Home. On February 4, 1978, Russell married the love of his life, Carol, at Liebenthal Church. Together, they built a life grounded in hard work, commitment and family. Russell made his life in farming and ranching, a path that reflected his dedication, resilience and deep ties to the land. Through long days and changing seasons, he took great pride in his work and in providing for his family. One of Russell’s fondest traditions and most cherished memories was the yearly branding at the Sutton Ranch, where family and friends gathered together year after year. Russell will be remembered for his quiet strength, his willingness to lend a hand and his deep care for those around him. He was someone people could count on… steady, dependable, and always ready to help when needed. When he wasn’t working, he could often be found deep into a game of poker, out on a trail ride, or in a hockey rink proudly watching his sons play. Whether through his work, his friendships or time spent with loved ones, he left a lasting impression on everyone who knew him. Russell will be deeply missed by his beloved wife, Carol; son, Emery (Kara) and his cherished grandchildren, Kyler, Ella, Rylan and Davyn. Russell is also survived by his siblings: Patsy Bishop (Brian), Joan Hauser (Heinz), Lorraine Sutton-Robles (Hugo), and Glenn Sutton (Jeannine) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Russell was predeceased by his son, Trevor; father, Orwell and his mother, Stella. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel, 901 – 13 Street S.W., Medicine Hat on Friday, May 8, 2026, between 12:30 p.m. and 1:20 p.m. A Celebration of Russell’s life will follow at 1:30 p.m. with Pastor Bob Church officiating and a time of fellowship thereafter in the Reflections Reception Facility.
