Rosemarie Laidlaw
1942 ~ 2019
Rosemarie Laidlaw of Medicine Hat passed away with her husband at her side on Thursday, March 7, 2019, at the age of 76 years. Along with her loving husband, Bryan, left to cherish Rosemarie’s memory are her children, Jeff (Sofia) and Duncan (Maria) and two special grandchildren, Callum and Mairi. Rosemarie is also survived by her sister, Bonnie (Jay) Martin; brother-in-law, Jim (Shirley) Laidlaw; sister-in-law, Patty Rowe; special cousin, Joyce (Frank) Teel as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins in Canada, the USA and Zambia. She was predeceased by her parents, Wesley and Rose Rowe and a brother, Jerry Rowe. Rosemarie was born in Medicine Hat on May 3, 1942. She was a true Taurus guided by the sun, the moon and the stars. A passionate golfer, Rosemarie had an albatross and hole-in-one on her golf resumé. She also golfed at the northernmost golf club in Alaska. Rosemarie was very creative and spent many hours pursuing her hobbies which included sewing, knitting, crocheting, scrapbooking and quilting. She had recently joined the Hat Rock and Lapidary Club and was pursuing a new interest in stone cutting and jewelry making. Although Willie Nelson’s music was her favorite, Rosemarie loved music of all kinds and especially enjoyed dancing. She spent many a day when she was alone having the best kitchen party ever. She was always active and stayed fit with her favorite exercise programs, chair yoga and Zumba. After retiring, Rosemarie caught the travel bug and took many trips to Asia, Australia, Europe and Central America. She especially loved to visit California and Scotland where her sons reside. Rosemarie was keen on family geneology and tried to incorporate her travel with her other interests. She fought a long battle with her health, but never let her struggle hold her back from doing what she wanted to the end. The family would like to thank the doctor’s at the Medicine Hat Regional Hospital and St. Joseph’s Home for their kindness, care and their help to make Rosemarie’s last days comfortable. A Celebration of Rosemarie’s life will be held at a future date with further announcements at that time.
