Rose Stein of Medicine Hat, passed away on Wednesday, December 30, 2020 at the age of 99 years, beloved wife of the late Mike Stein. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Randy Stein (Cindy Gyorkos); sisters-in-law, Carol Stein, Clare Stein and Rose Peters along with numerous nieces and nephews from both families. She was predeceased by her parents Nick and Wilhelmina Peters; her husband Mike on April 4, 1974; her siblings, Adam (Loretta) Peters, Betty (Peter) Metz, Bud (Frieda) Peters, Floyd (Irma) Peters, Frank (Rose) Peters, George (Barbara) Peters, Jack Peters, Joe (Ida) Peters, Roy Peters, Sheila (Albin) Rollack, and Mike’s family, Alex (Frances) Stein, Alphonse Stein, Andrew (Katie) Stein, Emily Stein, Erasmus (Mona) Stein, Joe (Rose) Stein, Pat Stein and Tony (Ann) Stein. Rose was born on December 20, 1921 on the family farm near Richmound, Saskatchewan. On June 16, 1941, she married Mike Stein and they worked the family farm near Linacre until moving into Richmound in 1964 at which time Mike retired due to health issues. In 1974, Mike passed away suddenly with Rose remaining in Richmound until 1986, when she moved into a suite in Medicine Hat living there independently until 2012. She then moved to Chinook Village, Meadow Ridge, River Ridge and finally to Masterpiece as her care needs progressed. Rose was active in her community helping with the Catholic Women’s League catering functions as well as preparing her Borscht soup for bonspiels and sports days. She enjoyed visiting all her friends and spending time tending to her large garden. Her family would like to thank all the people involved with her care over the years. Those who wish to pay their respects may do so at the PATTISON FUNERAL HOME on Monday from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. (masks are mandatory). Due to Covid-19 restrictions, a private funeral mass will be celebrated in the Holy Family Parish on Tuesday, January 5, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. with Fr. Rodel Abanto Celebrant. You are invited to watch the funeral mass online; please go to Youtube.com and type in Medicine Hat Holy Family Church. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery.
