Roger Doucette
1942 – 2024
Roger was born in Rosthern, Saskatchewan in May of 1942. He lived on a farm south of Duck Lake, Saskatchewan with his mom and dad and grandparents. He and his parents then moved to St. Benedict Saskatchewan for a few years, back to Duck Lake for a year and then to Beechy Saskatchewan where he graduated. He worked in the bank in Beechy for a couple of years and then moved to Saskatoon where he met Vivienne Haugen.
Vivienne and Roger were married in Saskatoon. They moved to Estevan for a few years and then out to Port Hardy, B.C. They then moved to St. Albert, Alberta and then to Medicine Hat where they resided until Vivienne passed away on February 11, 1994. Viv and Roger spent a lot of time curling and travelling to see family all around the States. Family was very important to them both and many holidays were spent at big family gatherings on the farm where an arm wrestling or wrestling match was sure to be had! Vivienne’s family has many fond memories of Roger that will always remain close to their hearts.
Roger married Dolores Doucette on September 16, 1996. They met through a singles ad in the newspaper, today’s version of match.com! They had 26 wonderful years together before Dolores passed away on January 20, 2023. They spent much of their time together at their cabin at Duncairn Dam in Saskatchewan, enjoying family, friends, and fishing. Once they both retired, Roger from an agent for the Workers Compensation Board, they wintered in Mesa for a few years and enjoyed travelling together. Roger was known in Dolores’ family for his love of golf, his quick witty humor, his preferred drink of rum and coke and so soo much more!
Roger enjoyed curling, golfing, travelling, his vehicles but most of all he loved his best buddy and loyal companion Harley. Roger and Dolores moved from their home to River Ridge Seniors Village in 2018. Roger resided at River Ridge until he passed on March 4, 2024. Once again, he was known for his witty sense of humor, his late-night excursions, and his valiant fight against Parkinsons until his last moment. All of Roger’s family sincerely appreciates the compassion, care, and kindness that was shown to Roger during his time there by the staff at River Ridge, especially these past few weeks. All the staff went above and beyond to let Roger pass with dignity and grace, we are all most grateful.
