Robert “Bob” Rath passed away on Monday, May 18, 2020 at the age of 82 years, beloved husband of Diana Rath of Medicine Hat. He also leaves to cherish his memory two children, Lorne (Betty) Rath and Dean (Sherry) Rath; grandchildren and great grandchildren, Dayna (Tony), Celine (Travis), Audra (David), their children Kobin and Keaton; Carly (Nolan), Kyle and his children Zachary, Addelin and Nikolas; Tyson, Christopher (Kaley), Ryan and Brant; one brother, Edward as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Hanna and John; one son Lloyd; one great-granddaughter Madelynn; one brother Lawrence and two sisters Lily and Viola. Bob and Diana began farming in 1960 and semi-retired in Medicine Hat in 1986. They enjoyed spending time on the farm with their family and grandchildren. From fishing to horseback riding to driving in the side by side, Bob was always happy to be spending time with family and friends. Every summer they made the drive up to Ponoka to watch the rodeo and stampede and visit with the many friends they have made over the years. On a warm summer day Bob could always be spotted beside the camper in a lawn chair with his cowboy hat on. Bob was always counting down for camping season to begin and never wanted it to end. Due to restrictions in place regarding COVID- 19 from the Chief Medical Officer of Health, a private funeral service for invited family will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, May 22, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. with Life Celebrant, David Townsend. Family and Friends are invited to remotely attend the funeral service through live streaming on our Facebook page – Pattison Funeral Home and Crematorium. Interment will follow in the Hillside Cemetery. Those who wish to remember Bob with a donation, may do so to the Canadian Cancer Society.
