Regas John Evangelos

Surrounded by family and friends and filled with gratitude for a full and happy life, Regas Evangelos, at the age of 67 years, passed away at the Cross Cancer Institute in Edmonton. He is survived by his beloved wife and best friend of 45 years, Valerie. Regas was born in Medicine Hat and lived there for the majority of his life. He was well known as an entrepreneur and businessman having owned and operated Taco Time and the Cheesecake Cafe. He was a long standing, valued member of the Franchisee Advisory Committee for Taco Time Canada and was twice the recipient of the Franchisee of the Year Award.
Regas was an avid participant in Medicine Hat youth baseball leagues and spent many years coaching. He continued to support various sports teams within the community. He was also an enthusiastic Medicine Hat Tiger’s fan. Regas enjoyed the cabin in Cypress Hills, camping, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Regas was a loving and dedicated father to his children, Erin and Tyler Schlepp, Jered and Lisa Evangelos and grandfather to Achiel, Jorja, Sawyer, Asher and Wren. He is survived by his siblings, Avanthia and Joe Swan, Dennis and Gail Evangelos, Chris and Doris Evangelos; Valerie’s family Bill and Sandy Prosser, Jerry Prosser and Larry Prosser; as well as many nieces, nephews, family and friends. Regas was predeceased by his parents John and Caroline, stepfather Stephan Gyorkos and his mother-in-law Zina Prosser.
The celebration of Regas’ wonderful life will be held in the PATTISON CHAPEL on Friday, February 23, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. As an expression of sympathy, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Medicine Hat Little League, PO Box 382, Medicine Hat, AB, T1A 7G1.
