1937 – Philip Stappler – 2021
Philip Anthony Stappler of Bow Island, beloved husband of 59 years to June Stappler, passed away on June 2, 2021 at the age of 83 years. Phil was born into a pioneer family. Following his family legacy as a dryland farmer south of Bow Island, farming was his life. After retiring, Phil loved gardening, fishing in his pond and driving school bus. He also enjoyed travelling and camping, making many return trips to the Oregon coast. He leaves to cherish his memory two children, Vicki (Pat) Galipeau and Tim (Veronika) Stappler all of Medicine Hat; three grandchildren; Taylor (Mitch), Austin (Halee) and Elisabeth; two great grandchildren Georgia and Felix; one brother David (Joan) Stappler; one sister Cecile (Robert) Arsenault; two brothers-in-law Roy Nerland and William (Shirley) Marshall; sister-in-law Debra (Randy) Elder, his aunt Mary Roth as well as numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Magdalena and Anthony Stappler; June’s parents’ Merle and Robert Marshal; two sons, Michael (1982), Robert (1988) and one sister Isabel Nerland. Phil’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the health care workers at Bow Island Health Centre for the exceptional care provided. Due to the current health restrictions, a private family graveside service will take place.
