Otto Gross went to be with his Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2018, at the age of 85 years, beloved husband of Ursula Gross of Bow Island. He also leaves to cherish his memory six children, Manfred (Angela), Heidi, Bruno (Laura), Harry (Randi), Ingrid (Frits) Dekker, David (Janice), his twenty grandchildren, one brother Erich (Klara) and numerous nieces and nephews. Otto was predeceased by his parents, Pauline and Gotthilf, and six siblings and one grandson Matthew Gross. Otto was born on September 10, 1932 in Kulm, Bessarabia (Ukraine). The family farmed in this region for 125 years until the war forced them to Poland, and eventually to Germany. In 1953, Otto’s family immigrated to Canada settling in Stirling. This is where Otto met Ursula Engler and married on April 4, 1959. In 1960, they moved to Bow Island where they have resided since. Opa loved farming, church and community involvement, his Canadian and German heritage, woodworking and grandchildren all which gave him a great deal of pleasure. The funeral service will be held in the Zion Lutheran Church (104 2nd Ave W, Bow Island) on Wednesday, May 2, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Mac deWaal officiating.
