Oscar Schneider of Medicine Hat passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2022, at the age of 101 years. Oscar was born to Gottlieb (George) and Lydia Schneider on September 8, 1921, in Irvine, Alberta. His mother was born on August 16, 1901 and his dad on April 29, 1899, both in Russia. Oscar was a military veteran having served in the Canadian Army during World War II, stationed on Vancouver Island and Suffield military bases. He was predeceased by his parents; son, Denis at birth in 1941; wife, Erna in 2011; brother, George in 1944; sister, Adeline Doble in 1992; grandson, Rick Schneider in 2013 and granddaughter, Alexandra Friesen in 1995. Oscar will always be fondly remembered as a caring father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather by his children, Deanna (George) Kerik of High River; Delores (Herb) Dawson of Medicine Hat; Ken (Berta) Schneider of Duncan BC; Garry (Delores) Schneider of Bellevue, AB and Beverly (Ken) Friesen of Medicine Hat as well as their respective family members. Oscar was very proud of his 14 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great-grandchildren. A Private family celebration of Oscar’s life will be held at Cook Southland Funeral Chapel on Saturday, October 22, 2022, with Pastor Lance Duncalfe officiating and interment to follow at Hillside Cemetery.
