Norma Renae White, beloved wife of the late James Edward White, passed away at St. Joseph’s Home – Carmel Hospice in Medicine Hat on Monday, December 9, 2024, at the age of 86 years. Norma was born on May 9, 1938, to parents, Angus Bright Gregory and Ruby Gregory of Lava Hot Springs, Idaho, and raised on a dairy farm there. She attended Marsh Valley High School, graduating from there in 1956.
Norma married Ed on March 13, 1956, and lived adjacent to his family’s ranch in the Chesterfield (Bancroft area) where they owned and operated a logging and sawmill business with Ed’s brother Jack and wife Denise. They lived in Gannet (Picabo), Idaho and Gooding, Idaho; eventually residing in Kimberly, Idaho. Norma and Ed moved to Bow Island in 1974, when Ed became general manager of the Bean Plant.
Norma is survived by a sister, Shirley Christensen of Pocatello, Idaho, as well as four sons; Rus (Linda) of Bow Island, Bryan (Sandy) of Hillsboro, Ohio, Verl (Tami) of Barnwell and Chris of Medicine Hat. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
In honour of Norma’s wishes, her life will be honoured and her memory cherished without the proceedings of a formal funeral. Private interment will take place in Bow Island at a future date.
