1924 – Myrtle Panko – 2022Myrtle Norah Panko of Medicine Hat, passed away on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 97 years. Myrtle was born November 01, 1924 near Constance, Saskatchewan. She grew up on the Schnell family farm and attended Goose Creek School. As a young woman she found work in the Rockglen and Killdeer districts. She married and settled on a farm near Killdeer where she raised her family and became an active member of the Killdeer community. Myrtle moved to Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1980, where she worked for several years in childcare and house cleaning. During that time Myrtle made many friends and endeared herself to many a family. Myrtle leaves to cherish her memory one son, Tim (Judy) Panko of Clearwater, BC, and children, Stacia, Grayson, Jennifer and Tommy; and one daughter Charlotte Panko (Ralph Eckman) of Fernie, BC. She was predeceased by her parents Florence and Ludwig Schnell; her husband Alex in 1992; one daughter Annette in 2019; two brothers, Roy and Clifford; four sisters, Waneeta, Florence, Vera and Elsie. A private time of remembrance will be held.
