Our much loved mother, Clara, passed away peacefully on October 23, 2017 just a few days short of her 94th birthday. She leaves a legacy of seven children, fourteen grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
Mom was born in Eastern Europe, November 12, 1923 and emigrated to Canada as a young girl with her parents, Edward and Rosina Enslen. They settled in the Seven Persons area. She married our dad, Jacob (Jack) Yanke and they farmed in the Tilley area until 1957 when they moved to Medicine Hat, where she has resided since. After living in her home on 11th Street SE for more than 50 years, Mom spent the last 10 years at Chinook Village and Meadow Ridge Seniors Village.
Her unwavering devotion to family will not be forgotten by her children, Janet (Bill) Dymond, Lloyd (Barb) Yanke, Brenda (Doug) Willson, Perry (Lois ) Yanke, Miles (Patti) Yanke, Diana (Ken) Rose and Tracey (Mike) Schall. She is survived by a sister, Elma Yanke and her best friend and brother, Albert Enslen, his wife Marion, and numerous nieces and nephews. Mom was predeceased by our Dad in 1987, her sister, Anna and brothers, John and Jackie.
A family graveside service will be held on the weekend. Flowers are gratefully declined in lieu of donations to the Palliative Care Unit, Medicine Hat Regional Hospital, (cheques payable to MH&D Health Foundation) 666 5th Street SW, Medicine Hat, T1A 4H6 or online at www.InYourCommunity.ca.
